Overview

We are looking for 3 Laboratory Technicians to join the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics for 3 of its Departments: The Cancer Genetics, Therapeutics & Ultrastructural Pathology, the Cytogenetics and Genomics and the Neurogenetics Departments.

The Cancer Genetics, Therapeutics & Ultrastructural Pathology Department conducts clinical diagnostic services, scientific research and post-graduate level teaching in the area of cancer and other diseases. In addition, the Department directs and manages all activities of the Institute’s Biobank core facility.

The Cytogenetics and Genomics Department performs comprehensive pre and postnatal diagnostic services, research and education in the area of cytogenomics.

The Neurogenetics Department provides diagnostic services, carries out research and provides educational programmes. The department serves as a reference laboratory mainly for rare neurogenetic and other neurological diseases offering molecular diagnosis, carrier detection, family analysis and prenatal diagnosis. In addition, the Department offers the National Prevention Programme for Friedreich ataxia in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

These are permanent full-time positions and the starting monthly gross salary is €1,304 plus 13th salary (salary scale: A2/A5/A7+2).

POSITIONS’ SUMMARY

Laboratory Technician for the Cancer Genetics, Therapeutics & Ultrastructural Pathology Department (ref.code: 310123)

The successful candidate will perform technical support for the Biobank and diagnostic services (on an as needed basis) as well as other laboratory/adminitrative/office duties in the everyday functioning of the Department.

Laboratory Technician for the Cytogenetics and Genomics Department (ref.code: 290123)

The successful candidate will perform general laboratory work and perform general office/administrative duties as assigned.

Laboratory Technician for the Neurogenetics Department (ref.code: 280123)

The successful candidate will perform generalized laboratory work and perform general office/administrative duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

  • A high-school Diploma; and
  • Command of the Greek and English languages
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Previous experience in a similar position and/or knowledge of laboratory operations and procedures will be considered as an advantage.
