Job Description
CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a global provider of payment solutions with expanding operations in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Database Engineer to join their growing team based in Nicosia. As a Database Engineer you will be actively engaged in the ongoing database engineering process, partnering with development groups, and providing deep subject matter expertise input as stakeholders to design reviews, and as an advocate for bringing forward and resolving customer issues. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Technology, Engineering, Science, or another related field who possess proven experience designing and maintaining relational databases, with a strong focus on Oracle. Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with mission critical database applications with Oracle databases.
- Design & develop scalable architectures for application features.
- Design complex sql queries and tune for performance.
- Automation of repetitive tasks using python, docker, Jenkins etc.
- Documentation to help automated tools in Confluence.
- Analysis of defects (prod/uat/qa) and provide solutions/fix.
- Willingness to seek & learn new trends especially around AWS.
- Willingness to educate/train others.
- Ability to drive the team in the right direction.
- Making sure committed deliverables are met well within stipulated duration.
- Looking for improvement opportunities across all supported platforms.
Key Skills/Experience:
- MCA, MSc, BSc or equivalent & above in a relevant field.
- Deep knowledge and experience designing and maintaining relational databases, mainly Oracle.
- Experience developing and supporting complex mission-critical production database systems.
- Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability and scalability.
- Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and approaches in IT.
- Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, recovery paths).
- Coding skills in PL/SQL.
- Excellent SQL and DB performance tuning skills.
